Waiting For General: HIMARS Destroy Three Companies Of Russian Motorised Riflemen During Assembly Near Volnovakha

One strike eliminated up to 65 occupants.

On February 20, the Ukrainian army launched a strike on a firing range near the village of Trudovske in Volnovakha district of Donetsk region. As a result of the attack, at least 65 Russian occupants were eliminated, the BBC reported citing sources.

According to them, the strikes could have come from a HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system.

At that moment, the soldiers of the 36th Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade (military unit 06705, Transbaikal Territory) were having an assembly.

The invaders from the 4th, 5th and 6th companies were standing on the range awaiting the arrival of the commander of the 29th Army of the Eastern Military District, Major-General Oleg Moiseyev.

"Lined up in a clear field by the commanders," said one of the surviving occupants.

The HIMARS strike was also reported by Russian military officer Yegor Guzenko and Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky.

According to Guzenko, fighters of the 36th Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation (m/u 06705) from Transbaikalia were liquidated. Guzenko writes about 65 dead.

The fly-in of cluster munitions (presumably from HIMARS MLRS) occurred in the afternoon, when three companies of the brigade (about 200-300 fighters) were lined up in a field awaiting the arrival of Major General Oleg Moiseyev, commander of the 29th Army of the Eastern District. A fighter in one of the videos from the strike site also says they were waiting for the commander.

In August 2023, Moiseyev became the hero of a film by propagandist Vladimir Solovyov.

The BBC separately notes that dozens of Russian Armed Forces fighters were killed hours before Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Putin on the victories in Avdiivka and Krynki (in the case of Krynki, Shoigu's statements are not confirmed by anything).
