Media: About 40 Architects Detained In Minsk

The arrests began last week.

Mass arrests of architects took place in Minsk. Nasha Niva’s interlocutors in Minsk call the figure “about 40 detainees.” Members of their families were also detained along with them—up to 70 people in total. Some were subsequently released.

Nasha Niva managed to confirm the names of five architects detained in Minsk. Some of them got administrative detentions, while criminal cases were opened against others. We know that one more architect was detained after returning from abroad.

The reason for the detention was probably accusations of participation in the movement for free elections and against the dictatorship in 2020.
