Latvia decided not to change the name of Belarus in Latvian. The linguists made the corresponding decision last year, DELFI reports citing the Center for the State Language.

Our country is called "Baltkrievija" in Latvian. There was a proposal to change the name to "Baltrutenia". Accordingly, Belarusians instead of "baltkrievi" in Latvian would be called "baltrutēņi". But finally, linguists recommended to keep the current name.

It should be added that Russia is called "Krievija" in Latvian.
