In Russia, in the early morning of February 3, explosions were heard in Volgograd. A drone attack was reported on the Lukoil oil refinery, Ukrainian media inform.
After the explosions, a strong fire broke out at the enterprise. This was reported by the Russian Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU”.
“In Volgograd, UAVs attacked the Lukoil oil refinery. There was an explosion. The fire area is over 300 square meters,” the message noted.
The information was confirmed by the Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov and Russian media.
According to local media reports, a fire broke out at the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery after a drone strike.
“A drone fell on an oil refinery in Volgograd. As a result of the emergency, a large fire started at the refinery. Information about this was confirmed by several sources in emergency services and the Ministry of Emergency Situations,” writes one of the local publications.
Eyewitnesses claim that “smoke is pouring out in a column” on the territory of the plant.
“A drone fell, the military, doctors and firefighters were immediately called. None of the security personnel saw the moment of the fall. However, they reported that the damage there was serious. There were no people present at the time of the incident, so far there have been no casualties,” local journalists quote the story of an interlocutor from the emergency services.
The publication also received confirmation of a fire in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Volgograd region.
“At 04:42 am a fire was reported in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Upon arrival of the first fire and rescue crews, it was established that an oil spill was burning across an area of 300 square meters. The crews of the Volgograd Fire and Rescue Garrison are working on the spot. No deaths or injuries have been reported so far. The reason is being established,” said representatives of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, without mentioning drones.
The Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka plant is considered the largest producer of petroleum products in the Southern Federal District. The plant's capacity is 14.8 million tons.
The day before, it was reported that the Russian Federation had already lost 37% of gasoline exports due to drone strikes on refineries. Diesel fuel exports fell by 23%.
Drone attacks have again been reported in Russia tonight, on February 3, this time in the Belgorod and Volgograd regions. The latter incident resulted in a strong fire at the Volgograd oil refinery.
