In the event of his resignation, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny is going to take care of his health, and also, possibly, begin teaching, writes Ukrayinska Pravda.
According to journalists, he announced this to his closest circle.
At the end of December 2023, it became known that Valery Zaluzhny defended his dissertation in law and received the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
The defense took place at the Odesa Law Academy, headed by ex-regional lawyer Serhiy Kivalov. The system displays the dissertation defense status as “degree awarded.”
Key words show that the topic of Zaluzhny’s work is related to military discipline, disciplinary offenses and penalties. In the works, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is signed as a graduate student of the Department of Administrative, Civil and Economic Law and Process of the Academy of the State Penitentiary Service.
The topic of the Commander-in-Chief's dissertation is classified. The website states that it “constitutes a state secret in the field of defense, state security and law enforcement” in accordance with Articles 1.2.1, 4.4.3, 4.6.4, approved by the relevant orders.
Rumors about Zaluzhny’s dismissal — what is known
On January 29, the media reported the likely dismissal of Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Zelensky's press secretary Serhiy Nikiforov denied this information. The president himself did not mention Zaluzhny’s resignation in his evening address.
According to the NYT, Zelensky still planned to dismiss the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but changed his decision after the information hit the media. WP reported that the reason for the possible resignation is disagreements due to different views on mobilization in Ukraine.
The Economist wrote that Zaluzhny was offered the position of secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine, but he refused, and he could allegedly be replaced by the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kirylo Budanov, or the commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky.
