Ukraine Becomes Largest Arms Importer In Europe

The increase was 6633%.

Russian arms exports have halved over the past five years. Ukraine has become the largest arms importer in Europe.

This is said in a statement by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

It is noted that the United States consistently holds the leading position: exports have grown by 17% over the past five years. Between 2019 and 2023, the United States supplied major military equipment to 107 countries, more than in the previous period and more than any other exporter.

It is the United States that accounts for about 55% of the weapons imported to the European states in 2019-2023, which is 20% more than in 2014-2018.

France is in second place among exporters. Russia is in third place in the ranking of world arms suppliers.

Ukraine became Europe's largest arms importer between 2019 and 2023 and fourth in the world due to about 30 states that have been helping with weapons since February 2022.

The overall increase in military imports reached the record 6633%. The main arms suppliers to Kyiv were the USA (39%), Germany (14%) and Poland (13%).
