Priest Ihor Kovalchuk Leaves Belarus

He served administrative detentions several times.

Priest from Rahachou Ihor Kovalchuk left for abroad, reports the “Chryścijanskaja Vizija” Telegram channel.

Ihor Kovalchuk previously served administrative arrest under Article 19.11 (dissemination of extremist materials), but was not released after the first fifteen days, and was sent to serve another administrative detention in prison. When he was released, the priest left Belarus.

Ihor Kovalchuk is the former rector of the parish of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rahachou (Homel diocese). He is a citizen of Ukraine.
