This has been reported by Miami police.

Famous Belarusian hockey player Kanstantsin Kaltsou, boyfriend of Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, committed suicide.

This has been reported by the Miami police to Tribuna.

“According to the investigation, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 12.39 pm, Bal Harbor Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbor Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, regarding a man jumping from a balcony. The Miami-Dade County Police Homicide Division has taken over the investigation into the apparent suicide of Kanstantsin Kaltsou (04/17/1981). “No suspicious circumstances were found,” said a police press service representative.

Kaltsou’s case is being handled by the Miami-Dade County Department.

Kaltsou was 42 years old. He was a graduate of the “Yunost” Minsk. In 1999, he was selected by Pittsburgh in the first round of the draft, 18th overall. In total, he played 144 games in the NHL, in which he scored 38 (12+26) points. He performed at a high level in Russia for many years. In 2008, he became the champion of Russia as part of the Salavat Yulaev (Ufa), and in 2011 he won the Gagarin Cup. Kanstantsin Kaltsou played for the Belarusian national team at two Olympics and nine world championships in the strongest division.

Kaltsou finished his career as a player in 2016 with Dynama Minsk. Then he advised a construction company that was building two arenas in the Olympic Park complex.

Kanstantsin began his coaching career at Dynama Minsk, assisting Gordie Dwyer. Then there was independent work at Brest and Dynama-Maladechna. After this, Kaltsou returned to the KHL: for one season he was an assistant coach at Spartak Moscow and two at Salavat Yulaev. In the 2023/24 season, the Ufa club lost in the 1/8 finals of the playoffs.

On March 18, the Winners hockey agency reported in a Telegram channel that Kaltsou would not renew his contract with Salavat Yulaev and would continue to work for another club.
