AFU Colonel: Russia Aiming To Seize Strategic Height

A major city is under threat.

Military expert, colonel of reserve of the AFU Roman Svitan comments on the situation in Bakhmut district in the direction of Chasov Yar.

"The situation is dangerous practically in all directions. The enemy has set itself an operational task in Bakhmut district - to squeeze our troops out of Chasov Yar," he emphasised in his comments to Glavred.

The military expert also says that the Russian occupiers will try to fulfil this task in the near future.

"Chasov Yar is a dominant height, from where our artillery controls not only part of Bakhmut, but also the north and south of Bakhmut district - Berkhivka and Kleshchyivka. Therefore, the Russians will try to throw us off this height," he warned.

At the same time, the military expert notes that today it is hard for Ukrainian troops to hold back the occupiers' attacks.

"The defence forces will hold their positions if they get enough weapons and ammunition. By controlling the heights, the AFU has an advantage over the Russians here," Svitan added.
