Swarm Of Drones Powerfully Strikes Aircraft Plant In Taganrog

A Russian A-50U aircraft could be undergoing repairs there.

On the night of March 9, explosions were heard in the Russian Taganrog, Rostov region. As reported by the Shot Telegram channel, the explosions lasted about an hour.

“Local residents counted more than 20 explosions in the sky. The sound of an engine and machine gun fire were also heard,” the report said. According to eyewitnesses, the raid lasted an hour and a half.

The flash was also visible above the airfield, eyewitnesses say. According to them, the drones flew into the city from the Sea of Azov.

The Russians also reported on the work of their air defense. They noted that the drones were flying low and they were trying to shoot them down with small arms. Explosions were heard for 30-40 minutes.

Also, governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev stated on his Telegram channel that air defense forces in Taganrog allegedly repelled a massive UAV attack.

He later stated that air defense units had already repelled the second attack in the skies over the Rostov region. Several UAVs were allegedly destroyed on approach to Morozovsk.

“According to preliminary data, there were no deaths as a result of the massive UAV attack on Taganrog. An Emergencies Ministry employee who participated in eliminating the consequences on the ground was injured. The victim was hospitalized, there is no threat to his life,” the official wrote.

Local Telegram channels report that the target of the attack was the Beriev aircraft plant.

“According to preliminary information, Ukrainian drones, among other things, attacked the territory of an aviation enterprise that is part of the Beriev scientific and technical complex,” Russian media write.

Local Telegram channels later clarified that the Beriev Aviation Plant had been damaged as a result of a UAV attack.

At about 3:23 am, Russian Telegram channels reported that the Beriev aircraft plant had been damaged, citing eyewitnesses. A fire broke out there.

It is known that this enterprise modernizes A-50 and A-100 AWACS aircraft, and also maintains Tu-95 and Tu-142 aircraft.

Ukrainian sources reported that the A-50U aircraft could be undergoing repairs at the Beriev aircraft plant.

Local media claim that this UAV raid on Taganrog was the largest during the entire war.
