Tokyo reminded everyone of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Japan will not put up with nuclear threats from Russia, the disasters that occurred in Hiroshima and Nagasaki must not be repeated, the representative of the state said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the issue of supplies of Western weapons to Kyiv, her words are reported by the organization’s press service.
“The representative of Japan condemned Moscow’s repeated nuclear rhetoric, noting that her country, which suffered from atomic bombings during the war, would never accept nuclear threats, let alone any use of nuclear weapons,” the UN said.
“The disasters in Hiroshima and Nagasaki must never be repeated,” the country’s representative said.
At the end of February, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his address to the Federal Assembly, said that Western countries must understand that Russia has nuclear weapons capable of “hitting targets on their territory.”
“Now the consequences for possible interventionists will be much more tragic. <...> And everything that they are coming up with now is how they scare the whole world, that all this really threatens with a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons, and therefore the destruction of civilization,” Russia’s president said.
In March, he reiterated that Russia was technically ready for nuclear war.
