MID Attack Tatarstan Plant Manufacturing Tu-22M, Tu-160M Planes

Ukrainian intelligence has revealed details.

The drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate attacked an aircraft factory in Tatarstan this morning. The target was the Gorbunov aircraft plant in Kazan, where the enemy produces and repairs Tu-22M and Tu-160M bombers.

Sources in the special services told RBC-Ukraine.

According to the sources, explosions on the territory of the Gorbunov aircraft plant in Kazan were heard on April 17 at about 11 a.m. (Minsk time). According to local media and users of social networks, an air-raid siren was activated in the area of the Kazan aircraft plant before the explosions. Simultaneously, the evacuation of personnel from the territory of the plant began.

At the same time, Rosaviatsia announced that the airports of Kazan, Nizhnekamsk and Nizhny Novgorod were temporarily not accepting or dispatching planes, and photos and videos of explosions on the territory of the plant, caused by the UAV attack, began to spread in the network.

Kazan Aviation Production Industrial Association named after S. P. Gorbunov is a Russian aviation enterprise that is part of the Tupolev Design Bureau holding.

The plant manufactures and repairs Russian military aircraft, in particular the Tu-22M and Tu-160M strategic bombers, which Russia uses to launch missile attacks against Ukraine.
