Warsaw will allocate money to strengthen the fence.
Polish authorities will allocate more than $370 million to strengthen the fence, erected in 2022 on the border with Belarus. This was stated by Deputy Minister of National Defence of Poland Cezary Tomczyk, writes PAP.
"The very modernisation of the fence will most likely cost about 1.5 billion zlotys (about $375 million. - Editor's note), and that's how much should be allocated to make this fence actually work," said Tomczyk.
A team of Polish engineers and employees of the Silesian University of Technology are working on the modernisation project. According to the deputy minister, the fence will become "impassable".
According to Tomczyk, the existing fence is a temporary solution, as it is not effective enough in deterring illegal migrants. He claims that migrants with the help of Belarusian services and using only a jack can get through it.
