A fire broke out at an electrical substation of the FSB military unit and the Progress military hardware production factory in the Russian suburbs of Moscow in the evening of 14 May. The cause of the fire was allegedly a short circuit, obozrevatel.com writes.
At least, such an explanation was provided by the administration of the town of Balashikha, but the mayor Sergei Yurov said nothing about the causes of the fire. At the same time, the media reported that it was allegedly arson.
"All services promptly responded to the emergency situation, now the fire has been extinguished. The supply of electricity to the houses has been resumed," said the local authorities.
As Russian mass media found out, the Russian Federal Security Service's Scientific and Technical Service is located on the territory of the plant where the incident occurred. According to the Agentura.ru website, it is engaged in developing, manufacturing and testing electronic carriers of various programmes for the country's military complex and civilian enterprises.
The media also write that during the USSR it was the Central Research Institute of Special Technology as part of the Operational and Technical Department of the KGB under the USSR Council of Ministers. It was called "Progress" for the purpose of conspiracy.
