Belhydromet has announced an orange alert level for Tuesday, May 21. Thunderstorms are expected across most of the country, and forecasters have predicted heavy rain in some areas.

According to experts, a thunderstorm front will cover all regions of the country on this day, including Minsk. “Thunderstorm from 9 am on May 21 to 9 pm on May 21,” says the Belhydromet website (the information applies to each region).

In addition, Belarusians on the day of May 21, according to weather forecasters, will experience southeast wind gusts of up to 14 m/s (50.4 km/h) in all regional centers except Homel. According to the Beaufort scale, this is a strong wind (tree trunks sway, it is difficult to walk against the wind).

The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned Belarusians about unfavorable weather conditions, and also reminded that during a thunderstorm:

• stay away from antennas and electrical wiring,
