American intelligence data.
According to US intelligence, Russia may be helping China prepare for an attack on Taiwan. Moscow and Beijing began to cooperate more closely on military issues, in particular those related to Taiwan.
This was stated in the United States Congress by the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Bloomberg reports.
According to her, intelligence records that the so-called unlimited partnership strengthens cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China in all spheres – in political, military, technological and economic.
“This is the first time we've seen China and Russia cooperate on Taiwan and recognize that this is a place where China definitely wants Russia to cooperate with them, and we don't see any reason why they wouldn't,” Haines said.
Republican Senator Mike Rounds, during a hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, predicted that if the United States enters an open conflict with one of these countries, there is a likelihood of a "second front". At the same time, if a second front emerges, the government will need more “weapons and manpower.”
In response, Haines agreed that both assumptions were plausible and reiterated that the scope of China-Russia cooperation was “limitless.”
"Of course, there is such an opportunity. The question of how likely this is, I think, depends on the scenario,” said the head of the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
