Russians Storming Nestryha Island After Long Pause

The Defense Forces of southern Ukraine revealed details.

On the left bank of the Kherson region, the Russian invaders, after a long pause, launched an assault on the island of Nestryha, which is of strategic importance. Head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine Dmytro Pletenchuk spoke about this during the telethon.

“Unfortunately, we can state that there is an aggravation on the line of combat contact. The enemy has been accumulating certain forces for some time in order to once again carry out such an escalation... Therefore, yesterday we had 19 attempted assaults, which is quite a lot. Of these, 12 are in the Orikhove direction. These are several settlements. Most of all — in the Staromayorsk area. Also on the left bank there were 7 attempted assaults, of which there were even attempts on the island of Nestryha, and 6 on Krynky,” Pletenchuk said.

In his opinion, the aggravation is due, first of all, to the fact that preparations are underway for the Peace Summit, which is to take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland.

“This is a traditional way for Russians to instrument their geopolitics. In principle, if you look in retrospect, you can see that before any negotiations, or before anything that may have at least some signs of negotiations, even though they are not invited there, the Russians always aggravate the situation at the front as much as possible,” stated the speaker.

The enemy is doing this, according to Pletenchuk, in order to either strengthen their positions, or, as is happening now, to show how necessary it is to negotiate with him.

The speaker added that the enemy is now making the most of all the resources it currently has in order to do as much harm as possible.

“Also the attack was drones, ballistics. Fortunately, there were no casualties. But the situation is quite tense and complicated,” says Pletenchuk.

According to him, in addition, the enemy is now strengthening the information component. In particular, the Southern Defense Forces learned about the preparation of another information sabotage in the occupied territories. The Russians are filming a series of fake videos in Ukrainian settlements so that the surrounding “scenery” corresponds to reality. In their “films” they will try to show Ukrainian military personnel in a negative way. According to Pletenchuk, first of all, we are talking about the military personnel of the TCC — they are preparing a video where the “heroes” will behave as inappropriately as possible in various situations and establishments, including drinking alcoholic beverages.
