Medvedev Seems Nervous About Ukraine's Right To Use Western Weapons Against Russia

He announced a “bad scenario” for a conflict with NATO.

Russia may use non-strategic nuclear weapons against Ukraine and Western countries if Kyiv uses the supplied weapons to strike Russian territory, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

“Such “individual assistance” from NATO countries against Russia, be it controlling their long-range cruise missiles or sending a contingent of troops to Ukraine, is a serious escalation of the conflict. Ukraine and its NATO allies will receive a response of such destructive force that the Alliance itself simply will not be able to resist being drawn into the conflict,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, the decisions of Western countries to allow Ukraine to attack military targets with supplied weapons no longer constitute military assistance, and will be qualified as the participation of these states in the war against Russia.

Medvedev added that Russia could use tactical nuclear weapons to strike NATO countries.

“And for those enemy countries whose lands are further than the coverage area of tactical nuclear weapons, there is finally a strategic potential. And this, alas, is not intimidation or nuclear bluff. The current military conflict with the West is developing according to the worst scenario,” he concluded.

The list of countries that support Ukraine's strikes on military targets in Russia with supplied weapons now looks like this: France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Canada, Denmark. According to Politico's knowledgeable sources, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also supports the initiative, but there have been no official statements from Berlin confirming this information. The day before, sources familiar with the situation told the publication that US President Joe Biden secretly allowed Ukraine to strike with American weapons on Russian territory on the border with the Kharkiv region.
