Former Wagner PMC Mercenary Stabbed Russian Fifth-Grader

The man's motive is unknown.

On the night of June 13-14, 31-year-old former fighter of the Wagner PMC Yuri Yakubenkov lived in the house of residents of the village of Taman. The owners of the house were asleep, including 12-year-old Maxim. Yakubenko grabbed a knife and wounded the schoolboy in the chest. The boy’s relatives tried to detain the former participant in the war in Ukraine, but Yakubenko fled the crime scene.

The police arrested him a few hours later. The man's motive is unknown.

As ASTRA found out, the man's motive is unknown. Yuri Yakubenko was previously convicted of theft and murder. He enlisted in the Wagner PMC and went to war in Ukraine in May 2023. Already in June he returned home to the Krasnodar region and got a job as a laborer.
