Cycling activist Sviatlana Karol was transferred to a Homel prison. According to the Viasna Human Rights Center, this happened on June 18. Her elderly mother and her husband who is suffering from cancer left at home alone. They were under her care.

A pensioner and cycling activist from Homel was detained in September 2023 and in March 2024 sentenced to 1.5 years in a general regime colony. She was accused of slandering Lukashenka. She headed the regional public association VeloGomel. In 2020, a woman joined the Homel Coordination Council.

At the beginning of June, she was included in the “List of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, foreign citizens or stateless persons involved in extremist activities.”
