ATACMS Destroy Russia's Space Radar In Crimea

Experts have studied satellite images before and after the strike.

Journalists of Radio Svaboda have posted on the Network satellite images of Planet Labs from May 20 and June 24, on which you can see the Space Communications Centre of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation in Crimea.

The AFU launched a missile attack on this very facility late in the evening of June 24.

Newsweek journalists decided to analyse the images before and after the strike in detail.

The source is sure that the AFU used American ATACMS missiles to strike the military facility in Vitine. The settlement is located in Saki district of annexed Crimea. OSINT analysts have already confirmed the fly-ins to the Russian Defence Ministry's CCS.

Newsweek journalists themselves established that the AFU used ATACMS missiles for the strike. They also asked for a comment from the Russian Defence Ministry by sending an email request.

The media representatives studied Planet Labs satellite images from May 20 and June 24 in detail. The images show hotbeds of fire and signs of destruction, but their scale is still not clear.

The experts only stated that the photo really shows the Russian Defence Ministry's Central Control Centre, which is important for space and satellite navigation.

There are a total of three such centres in Crimea, which are part of the Yevpatoria centre for long-distance space communications. The same facility came under the strikes of the AFU in December 2023. Then Kyiv used British Storm Shadow missiles for the strike.

Military expert Anatoly Khrapchinskiy states that a communications centre has been placed near Vitine, which receives signals from the Lotos and Pion-NKS satellites. The second satellite is actively used by the enemies to collect information on the Black Sea. The fire was recorded in the area of NIP-16 (m/u 81415). Newsweek believes that the AFU definitely damaged one of the space radars.
