Pressure On European Belarus Activist Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk Continues

The mother of two was forcibly sent for a psychiatric examination.

Activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was again sent for a psychological and psychiatric examination. This is already the fourth examination during her imprisonment; three previous examinations showed that the political prisoner’s mental health was perfectly normal, writes Viasna HRC.

Twice Palina was sent for an examination to the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health. This was before her first trial in 2021, and then after Palina tried to renounce Belarusian citizenship. Another such examination was carried out right in the pre-trial detention center. Now they decided to send the activist for an examination for the fourth time.

The political prisoner was supposed to be released on May 21, but two days before that she was transferred to a pre-trial detention center as part of a new criminal case under Article 411 of the Criminal Code (malicious disobedience to the administration of the colony).
