Naftan Strike Committee Former Head Volha Brytsikava Convicted

The woman worked at the plant for 16 years.

The law-enforcers included the former head of Naftan strike committee Volha Brytsikava in the “list of extremists”. The list says that she is already serving her sentence, the human rights center “Viasna” noted.

The closed trial of Brytsikava began on March 11, 2024, the last court hearing dates back to April 8. It was probably on this day that Judge Halina Bondal announced the verdict, which is currently unknown.

Brytsikava worked at the plant for 16 years. In 2022, after she photographed the ballot at the “referendum”, she was arrested 5 times in a row, for 15 days each time. In November, she was arrested again, under the article of violating order or holding mass events (Article 24.23 of the Administrative Code), for a drawing with the inscription “No to war” on her Facebook page.

In 2022, the woman spent 105 days under administrative arrest, after which it became known that a criminal case had been opened against her.
