A Polish border guard was wounded on the border with Belarus on Monday morning. The incident occurred during the suppression of an attempt by a group of migrants to break through the border near Białowieża.

A branch thrown by the migrants hit the border guard in the head, as a result of which he was taken to hospital. His life is not in danger, the Border Guard said.

Katarzyna Zdanowicz, a spokeswoman for the Podlasie Border Guard Department, shared details of the incident with RMF FM. It happened at around 4am on Monday morning. A group of ten migrants pelted the Polish patrol with stones, thick branches and some of the foreigners used gas cans. A branch hit one of the border guards in the head, he suffered injuries in the eye area and was sent to hospital.
