Djokovic Withdraws From Roland Garros
NOVAK DJOKOVIC

The Serbian tennis player will lose his title of world No. 1.

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season. This was reported by the tournament's press service on the social network X.

The reason is a right knee injury.

37-year-old Djokovic was supposed to play against Casper Ruud on June 5. The Norwegian advanced to the semifinals without struggle.

Djokovic won Roland Garros last year. Thus, he was unable to defend all 2,000 points and will lose his title of world # 1.

For the first time in his career, 22-year-old Italian Jannik Sinner will become the leader of the ATP rankings. He has already reached the quarterfinals, where he is playing against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (world #10).

Djokovic returned to the top spot in the world rankings on September 11, 2023. He holds the record for the most weeks at the top of the ATP rankings (427). Sinner will be the first Italian to top the world rankings.

Roland Garros will end on June 9. The total prize fund of the tournament is €53.478 million.
