Russia has shifted its military-industrial complex to "war footing" by significantly increasing weapons production, and NATO cannot afford to lag behind. This was stated by US President Joe Biden, speaking at a press conference during the bloc's summit in Washington, broadcast by Reuters.

"Russia has shifted to war footing in terms of defence production. They are significantly increasing the production of weapons, ammunition and equipment. <...> We, in my view, cannot allow the alliance to lag behind," the US president said.
