Fire And Explosions At Plant In Moscow Region

Helicopters were thrown to extinguish the fire.

On the morning of July 11, residents of the city of Khimki in the Moscow region noticed a column of smoke in the middle of the city. The fire broke out, explosions were heard at the place of ignition. To overcome a large-scale fire, the regional branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation attracted seven units of fire-fighting machinery. The emergency on the outskirts of the Russian capital was reported by Ria Novosti on Telegram.

Journalists got information from a representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, who reported that a workshop for the production of ceramic tiles in Khimki caught fire. The fire area is about 2,000 square meters. However, later the data was updated — it burns by 5,000 square meters. As a result of the fire, the roof collapsed, rescuers noted. The area of the collapsed roof is 80 square meters, the report reads.

In the meantime, local residents posted videos from the scene. In the video, you can see two columns of black smoke near the skyscrapers. There are 30 gas cylinders in the ceramic workshop, sources of the Shot Telegram channel assure. When the fire started, several explosions were heard. To extinguish the fire, 26 firefighters are working and preparing to use a helicopter.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and the Moscow Emergencies Ministry have not yet commented on the events in Khimki. There is no information about the causes of the fire.

It should be noted that Khimki is a city that is part of the Moscow agglomeration and is located near the northern outskirts of the Russian capital. The distance from the settlement to the Ukrainian border is about 400 km. 8 km to the Sheremetyevo International Airport. They wrote nothing on Telegram about the suspension of flights on July 11 due to a possible threat of a UAV attack.
