Russian Ship And Deep-Sea Vehicle Collide In Norwegian Sea

This happened during testing.

The Russian ship Mikhail Rudnitsky and the deep-sea vehicle AS-36 collided in the Norwegian Sea during testing.

This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

“On July 1, during testing in the Norwegian Sea, the modernized Russian deep-sea vehicle AS-36 was damaged,” the report says.

The vehicle has been modernized in St. Petersburg at the Kanonersky Ship Repair Plant since 2017. The rescue ship of the Russian Northern Fleet, Mikhail Rudnitsky, became the carrier of AS-36.

“At the moment of launching the deep-sea vehicle, the crew of the Rudnitsky lost control, which led to a collision between the hulls of the ship and the AS-36. As a result of the incident, the Russian deep-sea vehicle sustained damage that does not allow further testing,” the Defence Intelligence added.

The Russians are currently assessing the damage and the time needed to repair the AS-36.
