Journalists Report Who Trump Called After Assassination Attempt

The US presidential contender wants to unite the Republican Party.

The 45th US President Donald Trump called his former election rival Nikki Haley after the assassination attempt and asked her to come to the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee (Wisconsin) this week. This is reported by the Bloomberg agency with reference to informed sources.

According to Bloomberg interlocutors, such a step of Trump is seen as an attempt to unite the party. The politician is using the public reaction to the assassination attempt to "appeal to people who might refuse in other circumstances," the agency writes.

Last week, Haley urged her delegates to support Trump.

Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina and United States ambassador to the United Nations in 2017-2018, backed out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination in March after a failed "Super Tuesday". According to Bloomberg, she became "Trump's last serious rival" within the Republican Party.
