Lithuania To Close Border For Cars With Belarusian Licence Plates

Already tomorrow.

Lithuania joins the ban on entry of cars with Belarusian number plates into the country from midnight on July 18.

Earlier a similar ban, motivated by EU sanctions, was imposed by Latvia.

Until August 16, 2024, cars registered in Belarus will be able to enter Lithuania, if they are not for sale and belong to Belarusian citizens with a valid visa or residence permit in Lithuania (temporary or permanent). In this case, the car must be driven by its owner. This exception does not apply to cars owned by legal entities or used for commercial purposes.

Cars with diplomatic licence plates will be able to drive without problems.

The movement of passenger buses is not affected by these prohibitions.
