Lithuania Doesn't Let Belarusian-Registered Vehicles Through Its Border

More than 20 cars were not allowed in.

After the ban on entry into Lithuania of Belarusian-registered cars began, Lithuanian customs refused more than 20 cars – more than 10 in Medininkai and 16 in Šalcininkai.

According to the head of the Medininkai border crossing, Arūnas Daurbas, from midnight to morning more than 10 cars were unable to enter Lithuania without the car owner at the wheel. In cooperation with the Lithuanian border service, they were returned to Belarus, LRT writes.

At the Shalchininkai checkpoint, 16 cars were refused.

“We have functioning posts in Medininkai and Shalcininkai. About 500 cars enter every day, 60-70% of them are Belarusian. By 7 a.m. on Thursday, 16 vehicles were refused in Šalčininkai,” said Žarius Žvironas, director general of Lithuanian customs.
