Lukashenka Blatantly Lying About Meeting With Guterres
ANTONIO GUTERRES

Will the UN respond?

Today Lukashenka has stated that UN Secretary General António Guterres did not make any claims against him during the meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

This was stated by the dictator at a meeting with Belarus' Permanent Representative to the United Nations Valiantsin Rybakou.

Lukashenka brazenly lied. The official report, published on the UN website, says that Guterres ‘expressed concern about the human rights situation in Belarus and expressed the wish that the amnesty would be a step towards full respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in Belarus.’

Earlier, newly appointed Foreign Minister of Belarus Maksim Ryzhenkou lied about Lukashenka's meeting with the UN Secretary General. He also said that ‘Guterres did not say anything about human rights’.
