Biden Orders To Find Out What Americans Think About Harris' Involvement In Election

The US president is taking calls to stop fighting for re-election increasingly seriously.

US President Joe Biden is taking calls to end his re-election fight more seriously, Reuters reports, citing a source. According to The New York Times sources close to the President, he admits that he may not win the election in November and may have to withdraw from the race, giving in to the demands of concerned Democrats.

Five NBC sources in Biden's inner circle believe the ground is ‘going out from under his feet.’ ‘We're close to the end,’ one of the interlocutors said. He had previously doubted that Biden would decide to end his run for the presidency.

One NYT source said ‘it wouldn't be a surprise’ if Biden makes a statement soon and introduces Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement. ABC News, citing a senior administration official, reports that the president has asked for an opinion poll to find out what Americans think of Harris' prospects if she enters the race.

Newsweek, citing bookmaker agencies of Polymarket and PredictIt, reported that Harris is considered the most likely candidate to replace Biden. They estimated the probability of her nomination at 45%, Biden - 40%. According to the Economist/YouGov poll, almost 80 per cent of US Democrats would approve of Harris' participation in the election instead of Biden.
