Biden Claims He Will Return To Presidential Race Next Week Amidst Calls To Quit
JOE BIDEN

The White House has called reports that Biden's family is allegedly discussing a plan for him to withdraw from the presidential race unreliable.

President Biden said he looks forward to returning to the campaign trail “next week” after he recovers from COVID-19, publicly signaling he is committed to his candidacy despite more Democrats calling on him to quit the race, writes The Washington Times.

Biden outlined his plan Friday in a statement condemning former President Donald Trump and the “dark” vision of America his rival outlined in a Thursday prime-time speech to the GOP convention.

“I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms, and create opportunity for everyone,” Mr. Biden said.

His vow to keep campaigning came as the number of Democratic lawmakers urging him to quit reached at least 30. Some top Democrats have said they believe Mr. Biden could drop out by this weekend.

White House dismisses NBC News report that Biden family is allegedly discussing the plan for him to drop out of presidential race as false.

“This is not happening, period. Keep the faith,” Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates wrote in X, commenting on the TV channel's publication.

According to campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden will return to the electoral race next week. This will happen after the US president ends his isolation due to mild COVID symptoms.

“Absolutely, the president’s in this race,” she said in an interview to CNN.

Dan Kanninen, the campaign’s battleground state director, said that Biden “will not sugarcoat the state of the race’:

“We have our work cut out for us to win this November. Joe Biden is the presumptive nominee — there is no plan for an alternative nominee. In a few short weeks, Joe Biden will be the official nominee. It is high past time we stop fighting one another. The only person who wins when we fight is Donald Trump,” he added.
