Are Russian Special Services Involved In Farion's Murder?

The Ukrainian Interior Minister voiced the main versions.

Law enforcement agencies are considering several versions in the case of the murder of public figure, professor Iryna Farion in Lviv. The search for the shooter continues.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with a reference to a briefing by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko in Lviv.

The official noted that law enforcement officers found a cartridge case at the crime scene after a shot was fired at Farion. However, he did not specify what caliber was used.

Klymenko also said, answering questions from media representatives, that investigators do not rule out a possible “Russian trace” in yesterday's murder of former MP Farion. However, the head of the Interior Ministry did not disclose any details on this matter.

At the same time, he said that the main versions being considered at the moment are:

personal hostility;

social and political activities of Mrs. Farion;

the police also do not rule out that the murder was a contract killing.

“We have collected operational information, which is being checked — it is too early to make it public. Law enforcement officers are working,” Klymenko noted.

During the briefing, the Minister said that almost the entire Lviv police and part of the Lviv region police have been involved in the investigation of the crime.

He also said that a number of examinations have already been ordered, including a ballistic examination, and videos from surveillance cameras are being analyzed.

According to Klymenko, the police, together with the SSU, “are carrying out a series of measures to find the shooter,” and at the same time, we are using technical capabilities to identify the attacker.”

Klymenko added that investigators are trying to establish details about the identity of Farion's killer. He said that the investigation has information that the suspect was near her house for several days at a certain time.

“We are checking all the information, working with witnesses, and contacting anyone who can provide additional information to the investigation,” the Minister said.

In the evening of July 19, an unknown man shot at public figure and linguist Iryna Farion in Lviv.

Later it became known that Iryna Farion died in the hospital from injuries sustained due to wounds to the head.
