Trump Said He Had Received 'Beautiful Note' From Xi Jinping

The head of the People's Republic of China did this after an assassination attempt on a US presidential candidate.

US presidential candidate Donald Trump said that after the assassination attempt last week he received a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping. Reuters reported on Sunday, July 21.

“(Xi) wrote me a beautiful note the other day when he heard about what happened,” Trump said during a speech at an election event in Michigan that was his first since the assassination attempt.

Trump spoke about the message from Xi during a discussion of his economic policy toward China during his presidency.

“I got along very well with President Xi,” the former U.S. president said.

During his speech, Trump also mentioned messages from other world leaders after the assassination attempt.

During his speech in Michigan, Trump sharply criticized his political opponents. After calling for national unity earlier in the week, he returned to “familiar election tactics” — using offensive language to attack Democrats, Reuters reported.
