Ukrainian Armed Forces Captured Russian Positions Near Vuhledar At Night

They stormed into the occupiers' positions in an M2 Bradley combat vehicle with a swift maneuver.

The assault group of the “Skala” battalion carried out a night assault and drove the Russian occupiers out of their positions near Vuhledar. The details of the attack were made public in a report by Butusov+.

Soldiers of the 425th separate assault battalion “Skala” stormed into the Russian positions with a swift maneuver during a night operation in an M2 Bradley combat vehicle.

The assault aircraft, equipped with night vision devices and thermal imagers, began clearing the trenches held by ten soldiers of the 1st battalion of the 57th motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Armed Forces under the cover of drones. During contact battles at a distance of several meters, the soldiers eliminated two Russian soldiers. Having knocked them out, the “Skala” fighters opened suppressive fire on the dugout with a group of occupiers, forcing them to surrender.

The assault group of the 425th separate assault battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces itself did not suffer any losses among personnel or equipment during the entire operation.

A part of the captured soldiers turned out to be mobilized prisoners and defendants who were offered service in the Russian army in exchange for amnesty. According to one of the prisoners, his unit (the 1st battalion) was partially formed from prisoners and former convicts. However, for example, the 3rd battalion of the 57th separate motorized rifle brigade was completely staffed with personnel from prisons.

Commander of the captured Russian group Nikolai Vlasov said that their company had an assault platoon of motorcyclists, but they did not prove their effectiveness.

“The day before our battle, they had an assault, none of them made it,” Vlasov said.

Considering the difficulty of storming Ukrainian positions with mechanized equipment, which is often destroyed by drones on the approach to the battlefield, the occupiers began to implement the tactics of rapid attacks on motorcycles in May of this year.

The occupiers are counting on the speed of such assault actions, which should reduce the time spent in open terrain and “overtake” the reaction time of soldiers in positions. Often, such attacks end with machine gun fire in the gray zone, while artillery and attack drones do the finishing off.
