Lukashenka Signs Document On ‘Mobilisation’ Of Belarusians

To eliminate the consequences of the disaster.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree allowing regional executive committees to involve citizens in eliminating the consequences of the hurricane, which passed over Belarus on 13-14 July. The document was published on the National Legal Portal of Pravo.by.

According to the document, the regional executive committees should organise the involvement of citizens in cleaning the territories from litter, as well as ensure the restoration of damaged capital buildings and their parts.

The document does not specify who exactly will be involved in these works, and does not mention payment for performing these tasks.

The State Control Committee will oversee the elimination of the consequences of the hurricane.

At the meeting on July 19, dedicated to the elimination of the consequences of the hurricane, Lukashenka proposed to involve political prisoners in the cleanup.
