Belarusians To Face Another Pension Change

It will complicate the life of some citizens.

From 2025, Belarus will raise the minimum insurance record. It is necessary for receiving a labour pension. This length of service includes only the time when you were working and your employer was paying insurance contributions to the Social Security Fund. Now the minimum insurance record is 19 years and 6 months. From January 1, 2025, it will increase by six months - up to 20 years, ‘Zerkalo’ reports with reference to social services.

We remind you that in 2013, this indicator increased from five to ten years. Belarusians, who have not worked out the insurance record under the new rules, fall into a pension trap. They can't claim for a labour pension, they can only get a social pension: men - from 65 years old, women - from 60 years old. Now the social pension is 209.37 rubles, and from 1 August it will be raised to 216.5 rubles.

Earlier, from January 1, 2020, the term of service in the army began to be included in the insurance record. This innovation was not supported by the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Finance at the discussion stage. At the same time, the authorities did not make any changes with regard to university studies and maternity leave, the including of which in the insurance record was discussed along with military service.

From 2025, changes will also be introduced in the calculation and assignment of pensions. From next year, the period for which the salary is taken to calculate these payments will be increased by one year - up to 31 years of continuous service. At present, the salary for the last 30 consecutive years of work (or less if you have worked less than this period) is taken to calculate the pension.
