Wagner Mercenaries Captured In Mali May Be ‘Sold’

An expert names potential “buyers”.

Tuareg rebels from Mali may “sell” captured Wagner mercenaries to Ukraine, France, or even Russia. This opinion was expressed by director of the Center for Military and Legal Studies Oleksandr Musienko in a commentary to Espresso.

“Information has appeared that they want to transfer captured Wagner mercenaries from Mali to Ukraine. This is good news. However, I am afraid that the rebels may be overcome by economic and pragmatic interests. That is, Russia may buy these prisoners, but, again, in such a scenario, the risks for the rebels are very high,” the analyst says.

According to Musienko, Ukraine could indeed bargain for these Wagner mercenaries if they had some value for our country. However, the expert believes that France may also be interested in these prisoners, and perhaps even more than Ukraine.

“I think it still hurts the French that they lost Mali after they were asked to leave. So I think the most important interests in this issue will not be of those against the Russians, but only of those who pay the most,” he explained.
