Russia Is Afraid To Recognise Pugacheva As ‘Foreign Agent’

The Ministry of Justice did not find grounds.

Russian singer Alla Pugacheva, who left Russia for Israel with her husband Maxim Galkin and children at the beginning of the full-scale war, was not recognized as a "foreign agent".

In March 2024, the head of the Federal Project on Security and Combating Corruption, Vitaly Borodin, wrote that Pugacheva should be punished for supporting Ukrainians and given the status of a "foreign agent" in Russia. However, the other day, the Russian Ministry of Justice did not find grounds for this.

"Currently, the Russian Ministry of Justice does not have information at its disposal that would allow us to conclude that there are circumstances with which the current legislation links the emergence of the said obligations to recognize a foreign agent," said Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko.
