Media Reveals Details Of Hamas Leader Assassination In Tehran

The assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was carried out by a guided missile aimed at his private residence in Tehran, according to Al Hadath sources quoted by the BBC.

The publication reports that the missile hit the house around 2:00, the same is claimed by Iranian state media.

Fars News agency, which is affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard, also reports that Haniyeh was at a veterans' residence in northern Tehran and that he was killed by an “aerial projectile.”

On Wednesday, July 31, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the leader of the Palestinian group Hamas, Haniyeh, was killed at his residence in Tehran.

Hamas later confirmed the death of Ismail Haniyeh. In particular, Musa Abu Marzouq, a member of the Politburo of Hamas, called the murder of Haniyeh a "despicable act" and stated that it "will not go unpunished." Hamas blames Israel for the assasination. The Israeli side has not yet commented on Haniyeh's death.

Ismail Haniya is a Palestinian politician and one of the leaders of the Hamas terrorist movement. From March 29, 2006 to June 2, 2014, he was the Prime Minister of the Palestinian State. Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization in the European Union and the United States, and the United States recognized Haniyeh as a terrorist in 2018.
