Poland Announces Two Military Operations On Border With Belarus And In Airspace

The operations are a response to threats caused, among other things, by migration pressure from the Lukashenka regime.

On August 1, the Polish Armed Forces will launch two operations aimed at strengthening national security on the eastern border of the country. This was stated in a message of the Polish Armed Forces on the social network X (Twitter).

The Polish military reported that the operations “Safe Podlasie” and “Eastern Aurora” are a response to threats caused by migration pressure from the Belarusian regime and Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, accompanied by air attacks on its western regions.

Both operations are crucial for strengthening national security and effective deterrence.

Operation “Safe Podlasie” will ensure effective protection against illegal migration, and Operation “Eastern Aurora” will increase operational capabilities against threats to the security of Polish airspace, the message says.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, quoted by RMF24, said that the violation of Polish airspace has become an international issue.

“I said this at the NATO summit, meeting with defense ministers of other countries of our allies. I always emphasize that among the members of the Alliance, Poland is most exposed to various types of events, intentional or accidental, but always dangerous for the Republic of Poland and NATO,” the head of the defense department emphasized.

Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that Operation Eastern Aurora will cover the territory of eastern and north-eastern Poland. It will include constant monitoring of airspace, response to detected violations, cooperation with allies, and exercises.
