Explosion Takes Place At Defence Plant In USA

Yesterday, on July 3, there was an explosion at a defence plant in the American state of Arkansas. As a result, two people were injured and one person is missing.

A company spokesman said that the explosion occurred at the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems plant in Camden, about 138 kilometres south of Little Rock.

The company initially called it a "pyrotechnics-related incident". , but later confirmed it was an explosion.

"We are now working with first responders and can confirm that at least two people have been injured and one person is missing as a result of the incident .... We are fully co-operating with authorities who are investigating," Berkeley Whaley of General Dynamics said in a statement.

The statement did not provide details on the severity of the injuries. The U.S. State Department of Emergency Management said it was monitoring the situation and was ready to assist, but did not provide additional details.

It should be noted that General Dynamics is a global aerospace and defence company. The Camden plant occupies more than 880,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space and supports military programmes such as Hellfire and Javelin missiles and various mortar munitions.
