Recently, cases of theft and abuse have been initiated in the six largest construction companies in the Vitebsk region.

The Vitebsk house-building plant tops the list. Its CEO, who led the organization for 10 years, Anton Dubovikau, was “exposed” due to corruption. He was a “deputy” of the Vitebsk City Council of the previous convocation and the person of the year of the Vitebsk region in 2015.

The cohort of construction organizations involved in corruption includes Vitebskobselstroy, Zelenstroy, Mekhkolona 43, Zhilstroy, Stroytrest 9.

“Such a surge in industrial economic activity is associated with the region’s preparation for the Forum of Regions and the disbursement of funds allocated for these purposes. In all organizations, top managers are involved in crimes. During the entire period of Belarusian independence, there has not been such a “bouquet” of corruption cases in one industry of a particular region,” writes a reader of the Charter97.org website.
