Labour Party Wins Convincing Victory In British Election

The party wins 410 seats in parliament.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has admitted defeat in the general election. The centre-left Labour Party has won a convincing victory.

This is reported by CNN.

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer celebrated the victory in front of his supporters at London's Tate Modern art gallery.

"Change is starting now. Honestly, it feels good," he said.

Sunak said he called Starmer to congratulate him and added that he takes personal responsibility for the crushing defeat.

According to exit polls, Labour will win 410 seats and the Conservatives just 131, marking a rejection of the ruling party by British voters that had been expected for months.

"The Labour Party has won this general election. Today the British people have delivered a sobering verdict. We have much to learn and much to reflect on, and I take responsibility for the defeat," Sunak said.

Britain's General Election

In late May, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, after an audience with King Charles III, dissolved parliament and called early elections.

The British elections were held on July 4, where the Conservatives and Labour were the main contenders.

The main contender for Britain's prime minister, Keir Starmer, has already made his first official statement after the exit polls were released.
