Keir Starmer Officially Becomes Prime Minister Of Great Britain

King Charles III appointed the leader of the victorious Labour Party to the post.

Labour leader Keir Starmer has officially become the 58th Prime Minister of Great Britain after King Charles III appointed him to the post. This was announced by Buckingham Palace.

The politician will deliver his first speech as head of government at Downing Street.

“The King today received the Right Honourable Sir Keir Starmer MP and asked him to form a new administration. Sir Keir has accepted His Majesty’s offer and has been appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury,” the statement said.

On July 4, early parliamentary elections were held in the UK. Labour won by a large margin for the first time since 2005.

The Conservatives will receive 119 seats in parliament against 411 Labour out of a total of 650 seats. Thus, the representatives of the Labour Party won a record number of seats in its history. Also, a record number of women entered parliament — 242 deputies.
