Liberal Masoud Pezeshkian Wins Iranian Presidential Election
MASOUD PEZESHKIAN

30.5 million ballots have been processed.

After processing 30.5 million ballots, it became known that liberal Masoud Pezeshkian won and became the ninth president of Iran.

This was reported by IRNA.

Thus, according to calculations, reformist Pezeshkian received the support of 16.4 million Iranians, and his competitor, conservative Saeed Jalili, received 13.4 million votes.

In the first round of Iran's early presidential elections, candidates failed to overcome the 50% threshold required to win. Then Pezeshkian received 10.4 million votes against 9.4 million for Jalili, and voter turnout was 40%. Since no one crossed the 50% threshold, a second round of presidential elections was scheduled in the country.

Masoud Pezeshkian advocates dialogue with the West, and has promised to seek friendly relations. He has said his administration will immediately work to try to lift Western sanctions and restore the economy.
