Montenegro Bans Russian Propaganda

Licences of a number of publications have been suspended.

Montenegro has joined the EU sanctions against a series of Russian propaganda media.

As "European Pravda" writes, this is reported by "Balkan Observer" following the materials of local publications.

The government of Montenegro has decided to introduce international restrictive measures defined by the decisions of the EU Council against Russian media, the decision was reported in the Official Gazette of Montenegro at the end of June.

Sputnik and its Arabic-language version, a number of RT affiliates broadcasting in European and Arabic languages, RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24, TV Centre International, NTV/NTV Mir, Rossiya 1, REN TV, Channel One, Oriental Review, Tsargrad, New Eastern Outlook, and Catechon were banned.

The decision prohibits the transmission or distribution by any means, such as cable, satellite, IP television, internet services, platforms or programmes for video sharing on the internet, whether new or previously installed.

The decision also provides for suspending all broadcasting licences, as well as broadcasting and distribution obligations for sub-sanctioned legal entities, organisations or bodies.

It is also prohibited to advertise products or services of any content produced or broadcast by sub-sanctioned legal persons, entities or bodies by transmission or distribution by any means.
