Breakthrough In Kursk Region: Russia Pulling Troops Out Of Kaliningrad

This is a completely new situation.

Russia has started moving troops to Kursk region even from Kaliningrad, which is not connected to the country by land. This was announced by Lithuanian National Defence Minister Laurynas Kasciunas during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

First of all, the Baltic politician expressed respect to the Ukrainian head of state for the actions and manoeuvres in the north, referring to Kursk region. In his opinion, it is a very good sign that talks about Vladimir Putin's "red lines", which the West does not want to cross, have not started again.

Lithuania also believes that the next step should be to authorise the use of long-range weapons, as this would help to hit targets deeper in enemy territory. Vilnius promised to support this and continue the dialogue.

"We are now observing how they (Russians, - ed.) are moving their troops from Kaliningrad to Kursk. I say to the Lithuanian people, look how the Ukrainians are fighting for you, because of their fight they (the Russian Armed Forces, - ed.) need to withdraw their troops from Kaliningrad. We even call it "demilitarisation" of Kaliningrad, which is happening thanks to the bravery of your military and your decisions. It seems to me that you have raised the morale not only of your people and your AFU, but also of our society," Laurynas Kasciunas said.

Separately, the Baltic minister said that the people of Lithuania are now thinking about how they can help the Ukrainians even more, because the Defence Forces show that it is possible to achieve very important things in such a short time.

"This is actually a good move and it is a completely new page," Laurynas Kasciunas summarised.
